Character Generation

1. Choose profession/place in community.

2. Choose 5 abilities, rated at +5, +4, +3, +2, +1. Two of these must be relevant to the profession.

3. Choose 10 skills, rated at +5, +4, +4, +3, +3, +3, +2, +2, +1, +1. Five of these must be relevant to the profession.

Neither abilities nor skills may be magical!

4. Choose 3 knacks, always rated at +5. The character must have a relevant skill, and the knack must not be so general as to always apply to that skill. So the skill "Ride +3" could be accompanied by the knack "Mount Running Horse", but not by "Talented Rider".

5. Choose additional abilities, skills, & knacks, balanced by negative abilities.

For every 2 points of negative ability scores, add one point to an existing ability or skill, or add one new ability or skill at +1, or add one knack. e.g. "Clumsy -3" and "Cowardly -1" can be used to buy "Flee +2".

No score can be outside the range -5 to +5 (during character creation). Skills cannot be negative.

6. If Health has not already been added, the character gets "Health 0" for free.

7. Choose three magical skills, rated at +5, +3, +1. See the religious chapters of the setting for details.

8. The character receives 3 Character Points.
