Christmas

Belated Christmas greetings to all those I haven't already sent best wishes to.

We spent Christmas with Claire's parents this year, dropping in on my parents each way to visit and leave them with Cisco. (Cats take a week or three to adjust to a new house, and he already feels he owns my parents' place, so I believe he'd be happier there than visiting somewhere new.) Selected Christmas highlights follow.

Food : Toss up between Carole's home baking, and the beef casserole she made on Christmas Eve.

Present : Complete new Dr Who in a Tardis from Claire. Otherwise I mainly got stuff to listen to, read, eat, and drink, all of it much appreciated. Special mention for the new Kate Bush - a wonderful mix of beautiful, odd, and barking - and a new hard drive from my parents, which was much needed.

Activity : Walking the dog. Claire's parents live in a pretty little village on the edge of the Campsies. The surrounding area could have been designed for a big doggy to explore, especially the day we discovered red deer hoof prints down the glen.

TV : Didn't really watch much telly. We recorded the Dr Who special, and watched it last night. It was okay, but nothing special. David Tennant was wonderful, though. Charismatic, and by turns funny and very, very serious. A few sharp scripts and he might just be the best Doctor yet.

Currently my computer is transferring data to the new hard drive, and recovering from the e-mail backlog that had built up. Ten thousand spam? I need to rethink how to stop this deluge...

Today Claire's out shopping with her Mum, and I'm looking after doggy and doing housework. That was another delight of Christmas - not having anything much to do. I even managed to do a little writing.

No idea what we're doing for New Year - as far as I've heard, no one is having any parties. Whatever you end up doing, hope 2006 is good for you.
