Tara

Just returned from a holiday in Wiltshire/Somerset and my great-aunt's 70th birthday party with a new job (support programmer for web-hosting), and a new puppy (a wolf hound-deer hound cross, who is probably called Tara). Very tired now, so more news later. Anyone wanting to see a huge, gangling puppy would be very welcome to drop round.

The Lyrics Game

So here's the game :

I've randomly chosen 25 songs (some by random numbers picked by friends, some by tossing dice) and chosen lines from each one.

Each lyric is listed below.

Guess the song title and the artist - some of them are covers! I'll cross them out as people get them right.

Marvel at my lack of musical taste...

1. Aching for your nails across my skin
2. And its one for the Devil and its one for the Christ
3. But I'll be back for you, Jack, and I'll let the machine speak,
4. Cecil sometimes swims, and often sits
5. Climbing, forever trying, find your way out
6. Does the recoil remind you, remind you of sex?
7. From the door comes Satan's daughter, and it only goes to show. You know.
8. Growing up it all seemed so one-sided, opinions all provided, the future pre-decided
9. I'll be the ink on your season ticket card
10. I'll bring you flowers and place them on your grave
11. I remember the special touch, I remember the favorite lies
12. I saw the flickering shadows of love on her blind
13. Just ring 36 24 36 hey I lead a life of crime
14. Leaving us all behind, lost in a changing world
15. Living here so long undisturbed, dreaming of the time we were free
16. Now they're frightened of leaving it, Everyone's reading it
17. One day they'll really love you, you'll charm them with that smile
18. She waits down at the end of that dirt road for young Johnny to come back
19. Smiling and waving and looking so fine, I don't think you knew you were in this song
20. Stricken dumb, cut and run, someone is screaming and the sky is dark
21. The weight of a lifetime, waiting for your healing hands
22. Throw away them records cause the blues is dead
23. You don't need to live in Wolverhampton to get down, you can live in Hollywood, its just another far away town
24. You scumbag, you maggot, you cheap lousy faggot
25. Your mind tricked you to feel the pain of someone close to you leaving the game of life

I suppose there's also the extra game of spotting who chose which song. Ben's is easy...

The Lyrics Game

A friend is currently running a new round of the lyrics game. Basically, he chooses random songs, types in a line or two from each, and people work out title and artist. I'd quite like to run a game myself, but having music on those old-fashioned silver things, I need a little more help.

So, could each person reading this leave a comment containing three random numbers - between 1 and 8, between 1 and 50, and between 1 and 20. That'll select drawer, CD in drawer, and track on CD. Once I get 25 (or as many as I'm gonna get!) I'll dig out those CDs, and post some lyrics.
