Parking for the Ceilidh - The Answer

Finally tracked down a phone number for Pollock Halls themselves. Apparently there will be plenty of parking on site. We're to go in by the main entrance (off Holyrood Park Road) and security will issue passes for the evening.

Parking at Pollock?

So, a friend asked the very good question "Is there anywhere to park at the ceilidh?" and my response of "I assume so" seems less than helpful. I've been trying to find out, but so far I've no idea. Today I emailed the band - presumably they know. Not sure how quickly they'll respond, so thought I'd try asking you lot.

Anyone know if you can park at Pollock Halls at an event for which the Uni is presumably getting a chunk of the gate? If not, where can you park near there?

Thanks for any help you can give...

Leurgy

I'm currently suffering from a dreadful lurgy. It crept up on me yesterday, and has got steadily worse through today. I'll spare you the details, but if you don't hear from me or I'm unusually grumpy, that's why.

On the positive side, Claire has taken "feed a cold" to heart, and is cooking me all sorts of nice things, which taste surprisingly like they should. Yay for wives!

More Claire's Birthday

Forgot to mention that the ceilidh tickets are a fiver for "concessions" whatever that means in this instance. Not that we know that many students any more...

I've also put the list of guaranteed-to-make-Claire-happy present ideas on an ugly web page, which Claire has promised not to look at. I'll delete stuff from the list if people let me know what they're getting, or you can sort that out amongst yourselves.

Claire's Birthday Celebrations

Claire's birthday comes up next week. To celebrate, we're going to a Ceilidh next Friday (19th) at Edinburgh Uni's Pollock Halls, near the pool. The band is Teannaich, who we think are the guys who used to do the ceilidhs at the Caley Brewery. Doors are at 7:30, tickets are £7, and more details are over here. We hope lots of you can make it.

Given the price of tickets, Claire's said that she thinks people just turning up for the Ceilidh would be a great present, but if anyone wants to get something else (and has, like me, realised that Claire is the world's worst person to buy presents for), I do have a list of stuff that she's guaranteed to make her smile. Drop me an e-mail if you want a copy.

Oh, and Happy New Year, a mere ten days late...
